2010 Seniors

At Owings Mills High School, the class of 2010 is very ecstatic that their time to be a senior is here. Three long years of being underclassmen has now passed behind them and they are ready to shine and be on top.
Brooke Rosenblatt, a studious senior, cannot wait to have the privileges that come with being a senior does. “I am most excited for the Denmark trip during spring break because I have never been to Europe and all my friends are going. It is going to be one of the most memorable times in my high school career,” she exclaimed. After last years Powder Puff show down with the class of 2009, Rosenblatt is very eager to redeem herself and her class during this years Powder Puff against the class of 2011. “One bad thing about being a senior is that it is going to be stressful balancing my loads of schoolwork and filling out college applications. But once the applications are in, this year will be a lot easier,” Rosenblatt concluded.
Marnie Baddock agrees with Rosenblatt and she is excited that her senior year has finally started. Baddock is excited to graduate because “[she is] finally going to step out of her comfort zone of being in high school and enter the world.” Baddock feels accomplished and can not wait for Denmark, Powder Puff, Senior Week and Prom.
Max Resnick thinks that being a senior is “awesome.” Resnick is pumped for senior prom because it will be the first dance that is not held at school. Senior Taylor Carr is excited to be the oldest and can’t wait to graduate as well. She wants to explore her options in college and is excited to start a new chapter.
Sophomore Max Rosenstein is extremely jealous with what the seniors get to do this school year. “It’s not fair that the seniors get to end their school year earlier then everyone else, they get to go to Mid-evil times and Denmark. They get to do all of these fun activities and I have to wait two more years to enjoy all of this!” Said Rosenstein. Many underclassmen get a little bit jealous with all the privileges the seniors get and the seniors love it!
In conclusion, being a senior is one of the best years of an adolescent’s life. Working ones way to the top of the school for a hard three years and being rewarded by having special trips and privileges is what being a senior is all about.
The First Day Experience

Entering high school can cause anxiety on new ninth graders. They are scared because of rumors and “scandals” they’ve heard from friends and/or what they have seen on television. “Freshman Friday”, which is nothing more than a myth (at least at Owings Mills High School) basically implies all the upper classman haze the new freshman.
Some students come to high school thinking that there are cliques .They assume that the cheerleaders are the most “popular” people in a high school monarchy followed by jocks. Movies play one of the main roles for why high school is interpreted the way it is; Mean Girls, Bring it On, and Never Been Kissed, are just a few of the many movies that insist of the stereotype of high school. At Owings Mills almost everyone is extremely diverse with whom they associate themselves with. There are a wide variety of clubs (Chess Club, Mock Trial, and Jewish Culture Club) sports (Football, Lacrosse, and Cheerleading) and organizations (African American Organization, SADD, and Steering Committee) by the time students come to high school, they quickly realize it’s almost nothing like what they had expected.
Freshman Maria Renee’ exclaimed that “lunch was fun and exciting”, in contrast to freshman Majenta Smith who says “classes were slow and boring”. Most students had good things to say, but not all. Freshman Seth Freeman says he got lost the first day, which has to be more than frustrating. But by the end of the day his entire attitude changed when he met new friends, found the rest of his classes and went home with a smile on his face.
